How To Get More Done Using Voice

Two years ago, I would have written this email. I never even dreamed of using my voice to write it.

Today, this entire email has been written/dictated. Here are the tools I use for this and how this flow saves me hours each week.

1. Go to superwhisper.com and download it for your device.

2. Choose your device. On the download page, choose the correct version for your device.

3. Install the app

> On Mac, open the downloaded file, then drag Superwhisper into your Applications folder.

Allow permissions for:
- Microphone
- Accessibility
- Input monitoring, if requested
- Any system permissions required for typing into other apps

These permissions allow Superwhisper to hear your voice and place the text where your cursor is.

4. Set the dictation shortcut

Select an app, press Option + Space, and start dictating.

5. Head over to ChatGPT

6. Dictate to it with Superwhisper that you want to set up a voice tidy-up project - like the screenshot below

Take the output and place it into the instructions of a new project in ChatGPT. Pin the chat or project so it is easy to find.

Then, whenever you use voice-to-text, open this chat, paste the transcript in, and ChatGPT will tidy it up for you.

The Way To Make More $$$ From Your Ads

As I keep working towards what feels like an impossible goal of 30 leads per week for our gym, I shifted my focus to our website.

Facebook says my ads are doing well at getting attention (clicks), but performing poorly post-click.

There are a bunch of reasons why that could be. The one I’m currently focusing on is website speed.

Kales talked about this heaps. Website speed matters. A well-repeated stat says that every second faster your website loads, your conversion rate improves by 17%.

Our gym’s website is slow. Really slow. The first test I ran last week said our homepage took 6+ seconds to load. So we’re wasting the clicks we’re getting from ads - no one’s waiting 6 seconds for a website to load. Our Google Analytics backs this up, too.

ATM, only 6% of Facebook sessions have engagement.

Which brings me to the point of this post. I’ve just learnt you can right-click a webpage, click “inspect”, then open up the “network” view and see how all the elements of your webpage are performing.

So if you’re working on your website, like me. Just “disable cache” (underlined above), then refresh the page you’re working on, and you can see how long everything takes to load. 1000ms = 1 second FYI.

Turns out the hero images on my website were 30+ MB and took 3+ seconds to load. I had no idea. Using this tool, I compressed and converted my hero images from JPEGs to WebP format. Now all my images are loading in less than 550ms. And our website is performing dramatically better.

I’m not done yet; that page speed tool I linked above has made me aware of other issues I need to fix.

But far-out, I’ve wasted some clicks/ad-spend on big images — if only I knew about this years ago.
